Airlines bill the higher of actual kilograms and volumetric kilograms. A box of pillows can cost more than a box of steel fittings.
The formula
Measure each carton in centimetres. Multiply length × width × height. Divide by 6000. That number is volumetric kg. Compare it to the scale weight. The quote uses the higher figure (chargeable weight).
Example A — dense spare parts
Carton 40 × 30 × 20 cm, actual 18 kg. Volume = 40×30×20 ÷ 6000 = 4 kg. Chargeable is 18 kg. You pay on real weight.
Example B — bulky retail
Carton 80 × 60 × 50 cm, actual 9 kg. Volume = 80×60×50 ÷ 6000 = 40 kg. Chargeable is 40 kg. This is why furniture and empty housings look expensive by air.
Example C — two pieces
Add chargeable weight per piece, then apply the rate. Do not average a heavy piece with a light bulky piece and hope.
Door-to-door still adds days
Jordan air door-to-door is typically 1–2 days. Egypt air door-to-door is typically 3–5 days. Chargeable kilos do not include destination duty.

What is the air volumetric divisor from Dubai?
Most IATA air quotes use centimetres: length × width × height ÷ 6000 = volumetric kg. Some couriers use 5000 — we state the divisor on the quote.
