How to Ship from China to Dubai
A practical guide to planning freight mode, costs, and customs for China-Dubai routes.
Start by selecting the best shipping mode based on cargo size, urgency, and budget. Sea freight from China ports (Shanghai, Ningbo, Guangzhou, Shenzhen) to Jebel Ali in Dubai takes 20–35 days and is ideal for large volume shipments over 5 CBM. Air freight takes 5–8 days and is best for urgent, high-value, or lightweight cargo under 500 kg.
Prepare complete shipping documents before your supplier dispatches the goods. The key documents are: commercial invoice, packing list, bill of lading (sea) or airway bill (air), and certificate of origin. If you plan to benefit from the China-UAE Free Trade Agreement (zero or reduced duties), you will need a Form E certificate of origin issued by the Chinese authorities.
UAE customs uses the Harmonized System (HS) code to classify your goods and determine import duties. Most consumer goods and electronics from China attract 5% import duty in UAE, but with Form E, many product categories enjoy 0% duty under the CEPA agreement signed in 2022. Confirm your HS code with your freight forwarder before shipping.
Work with a freight partner that can coordinate pickup from your supplier in China (including city-level collection from Yiwu, Guangzhou, or Shenzhen), ocean transit, UAE customs clearance, and final Dubai delivery. Elite Cargo handles this full door-to-door flow, ensuring your China shipments reach Dubai warehouses efficiently and without documentation surprises.
